Thomas Oehler’s music has been performed worldwide and has garnered praise for its finely crafted harmony and colours, as well as its powerfully evocative qualities. Thomas developed an independent musical mind and rare craftsmanship in his formative years at the Paris Conservatoire and the Royal Academy of Music, under the tutelage of the late Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Gary Carpenter, Paul Patterson and Jean-François Zygel, to name a few.

While his music features a wide range of shapes and expressions, it is often perceived as an original continuation of a Rameau-Ravel-Dutilleux musical lineage. His works have been commissioned and performed by numerous groups and artists such as the European Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Academy soloists ensemble, the Mercury Quartet, the Dali Trio, the Sounds New festival, Trevor Pinnock, Reinhold Friedrich, Maxime Tortelier, Amandine Savary, and many others. They have been released under the Linn and ARS Produktion labels, as well as in the catalogues of ABRSM publishing, Warwick Music and Boosey & Hawkes.

A respected and experienced pedagogue, Thomas has taught in various higher education institutions before joining the staff at the Royal Academy of Music in 2016. After calling the UK his home for more than a decade and a few years in Switzerland, he currently lives in Brittany with his wife, son, and an English black cat.
